Originally conceived as the Ghosts in the Machine, the role of the Singing Telepods in The Fly Opera serve as a narrator of sorts. The telepods were brought to life by creating an animated interface that displayed the libretto word for word as the chorus sang off-stage.

The Fly Opera is set in the 1950's, so the telepod interface and the ambient looping graphics design imbue that era.

The opera was composed by Academy Award winner, Howard Shore. David Cronenberg directed the stage, Plácido Domingo conducted and the motion graphics were integrated into the set designs of Dante Ferretti.
