I Was a Rat is a film adaptation of Philip Pullman's novel of the same name. The story is a fairy tale about a boy who claims he is a rat who attracts the interest of the Daily Scourge newspaper.

Tabloid papers and the printing process inspired the use of actual printing press letters in the title sequence. The lighting was shot stop-motion and sequence was cut and polished in After Effects.
