The inspiration for the title design of David Cronenberg's film, Spider was found in tools used in detecting schizophrenia in patients.

Images of stained walls, rusted metal and peeling paint were collected and manipulated to create bizarre and beautiful compositions reminiscent of Rorschach's inkblot tests.

The sequence becomes strangely evocative once set to Howard Shore's haunting score.
